GIZ Uganda: Tender “Design and costing of solar on- and off grid solar power systems”

GIZ

Design and costing of solar on- and off grid solar power systems and their smart system integration for cooperatives, SMEs and SIs intending to invest into grid-connected and off-grid solar and solar hybrid systems.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE

Green People’s Energy (Grüne Bürgerenergie, GBE) is an initiative launched by German Minister for Economic Cooperation, Dr. Gerd Müller, in June 2017 as part of the Marshal Plan with Africa. The initiative is implemented by GIZ in nine focal countries Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Mozambique, Namibia, Senegal, Uganda and Zambia. The country project Uganda aims at improving the access to decentralized renewable energy systems for farmers, enterprises, cooperatives and social institutions in rural areas.

GBE Uganda therefore intends to conduct energy assessments guiding the design of decentralized solar-centric or -supported power supply systems for rural cooperatives (15-20), commercial farmers as well as rural and peri-urban SMEs (15-20) involved in post-harvest storage, agro-processing, local value addition, further agricultural, commercial and industrial activities as well as public and private social institutions in the sectors of health, local governance and education (5-15). The aim is to design and cost on- and off-grid solar power systems as well as their smart system integration (hybrid systems, integration of electrical, heat and cold storage etc., use of IT-solutions) for this target group.

In line with this, GIZ GBE Uganda is launching an open tender for a consultancy “Design and costing of solar on- and off grid solar power systems and their smart system integration for cooperatives, SMEs and SIs intending to invest into grid-connected and off-grid solar and solar hybrid systems”.
