Ugandan Government is in final stages of upgrading Uganda Petroleum Institute Kigumba (UPIK) to a University status.
The Uganda Petroleum Institute Kigumba (UPIK) is a Government Tertiary institution that offers petroleum studies. The institute is located in Kigumba town council in Kiryandongo district. It offers a two year diploma course in petroleum engineering.
This news raises questions to the Ugandan Government: If you promote a fossil technology which had its economic peak in 20th century, why you dont promote energy sources which are state of the art? Decentralized renewable energies are booming worldwide – but were is the Solar University in Uganda?
The Ugandan Government should not lose touch with international development of the energy sector.
