Rural Electrification Will Rise To 26%- Ugandan Energy Minister

Uganda’s National electrification is currently rated at 23% with 10% for rural areas; the sector’s target is to have 26% rural electrification by 2022.

It is highly anticipated that increased access to electricity will be used as the engine for social economic development.

Speaking during the Power forum at Pearl of Africa, Kampala on September 26, Irene Muloni, Minister for Energy and Mineral Development, revealed that Government’s focus is to propel Uganda into the middle class Status and have plans to shift from a peasantry to and industrialized and largely urban society.
