Mobile money transforming electricity payment in Uganda

The use of technology to transact in the utility service space is elevating the electricity market by influencing demand for power through the ease of transacting. This article by Vianney Mutyaba – Manager: Pricing at the Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) in Uganda – presents an analysis of how mobile money in Uganda has transformed the payment of electricity, and its benefits and challenges.

With the benefits of using mobile money, it’s expected that all distribution companies in the east African country will adopt the technology in the short term.
