Kenya government plans to construct 25 mini solar plants in far-flung areas

To increase the access to electricity in the far-flung areas, in parts of North Eastern and Rift Valley, the government plans to construct 25 mini solar plants.

The Energy Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter said that these solar plants will bring down the cost of electricity. He said that the solar plants will help reduce the cost by seven times the retail cost of electricity from the current. At present, the cost is about 35 US cents to five cents per kilowatt-hour.
