How Uganda is igniting rural economies through power connection subsidies

The ‘last mile’ connection project involves extension of medium and low voltage lines to link remote areas to the national grid. It’s spearheaded by the Rural Electrification Agency of Uganda and funded by the French Development Agency (AFD). The campaign seeks to trigger economic activity in villages.

As of end of last year, some 1,000 connections had been done under the last mile project, with the exercise ongoing.
