France and UK take the lead in funding Kenya’s off-grid power projects

UK’s Department for International Development (DFID) takes the pole position with Sh4 billion ($40 million) worth of commitment, followed by French Development Agency (AFD) with a Sh3.6 billion ($36 million) financial leg up.

Spain and KfW of Germany are each to offer $16 million. The GIZ of Germany will offer $8 million while the World Bank has committed $11 million (Sh1.1 billion)towards the Kenya off-grid solar access project (K-OSAP) set to cost Sh15 billion.
