Prime Minister Edouard Ngirente has said that Rwanda will next week launch the National Research and Innovation Fund, which is expected to support the implementation of local innovations as well as research for development in the country. It was announced in March this year that the fund would be worth $100 million.
Africa has, over the past decade, consistently invested in infrastructure development, agriculture, conducive policy and regulatory environment to attract private sector. Despite this, the Rwandan premier said that Africa has not been able to leverage the private sector as an engine for transformation.
